When editing Wordpress paragraphs and <br> keep disappearing?

Featured Replies

Hi

I just get a page looking right, space correctly etc, then go back after viewing to make one extra change and have to start again. So annoying and its like my 15th WP website, always a real pain.

I've used several onther CMS type systems before, Joomla and so on and never come across this issue. The fact you have to add <br>  or similar at all is ridiculous.

Actually what really gets me is that it takes fine on some pages and not others, and will stay the same on some but will revert back for no particular reason?

I have built the website for someone else with no experience with html etc, how do others advice people about making changes themselves?

Be interested to hear how that issues got around with client in general?

Thanks

Ashley

Does your theme use the editor stylesheet? Insert the following into your theme's functions.php

add_editor_style();

Copy the rules from your theme's main stylesheet (the typography ones and anything relating to content, not the whole thing) into a file in your theme folder and call it "editor-style.css", and the editor will style text the way it appears on the frontend.

Aside from that, I use wp-typography to tame text.

adding the the margins / spacing to the paragraphs using css rather than adding <br />'s.

Worked like a charm, funny I did used to use this at the start like a year ago, and forgot all about it.

Thanks

imo the GUI post/page editor in wordpress strips code way too often, turn it off can fix these kind of issues quite often in my experience
