Last week i have 368 backlinks for my site but now i have only 180 backlinks please guide me.

Perhaps some sites that linked to you have removed the links?

You'll need to give us a little more information than that, like where your links come from, which ones arent there anymore, and which search engine you are getting these results from

I have personally observed that Google is hiding data related to back links.

You're right ^. Google is horrible for tracking backlinks. Yahoo! is much more reliable (shocking, isn't it?).

The reason for this is because the sites you have links on most probably are nofollowing you. This is an attribute that can be added to a link to another site, that tells Google to NOT count it as a link. This is my simple definition, but that is the main thing. If you need more info on nofollow, Google it.

 

Oh, there is no way around it I am afraid, unless you know the site owners and tell them to do a dofollow to your links.

Google has always obfuscated inbound links during a link:site.com search. The same way MSN has refused to show any at all for the last year or so.

 

Spyro while what you're saying is correct, its unlikely that multiple webmasters would all add nofollow attributes to the links for one specific site all at the same time.

Sounds more to me like a network of directories got taken down.

Yes I agree EggMan. Seems like something like that must have happened.

 

Hari Babu, I suggest back stepping all your linking steps and then you will find what EggMan mentioned. Have you kept a list of the sites that you submitted your site to? If not, it is a good idea to keep such a list for all of your sites. It helps you detect things like these easier.

To be honest, I'm probably not the best person to ask! I'm not very big on my link building campaigns, I like to optimise in other ways and then hope the links will come naturally.

So while I have submitted to a (very) few directories, I don't participate in any link exchange programs etc. This means most of my inbound links are pretty static - and I don't see a lot of fluctuation!
