December 13, 201015 yr Hey all, I was just wondering if anyone has had any experience of designing a mobile version of a site. I have a friend that wants a version of his site doing for the mobile. I'm just looking for some pointers really and any information that people may think that will be helpful. Thanks,
December 14, 201015 yr You can get a quick preliminary idea of how your page will look in a small mobile screen by using Opera. First set your page to about 320px width, then View, Fit to Width which will squeeze up the page. I tested one of my pages with a horizontal fixed width dropdown menu and it sueezed all the buttons so that the words were cut off, but at least it still worked.
December 14, 201015 yr Going foward, probably the most important attribute a website for the masses will need to have. Paradoxically, as we bomb forward with bigger screens and faster broadband - meaning bigger and fancier web pages are now possible, we also plummet swiftly into the world of small screens and slow 3g... Interesting to know whether designers build your webpages for both.. I believe the knack is minimal amount of data downloaded and let the device do the work.
