Apple Website Design and CMS

Featured Replies

I am trying to design and build a website for my design work and business so i can sell my services, i want my site to be in the style as apple. Just wondering is it easier to make a site like this with a CMS or just a standard HTML file, also is there any tutorials of making and building a apple style site or cms site.

I have also attached my current design for the site.

it doesn't make much difference, the design is all about the style and you're going to be doing that in your css.

Apple's pages seem to be fairly unique, but all have the same top header (the navigation bar).

It would probably be better and faster for you to just hand code each of your pages using HTML code in PHP files. Create a header template, save it into a .html or .php file and include it at the top of each of your pages using <?php include ("header.php") ?>

Background images repeated across x or y accordingly.

That's easy to do too. Just draw a box in a photoshop type program and then in CSS you add the top corners and then a selection of the middle (so you can repeat the content as long as you want.) and then the bottom corners.

So it would look like this.

<div id="top">
</div>
<div id="middle">
   Lots of content
   Lots of content
   Lots of content
   Lots of content
   Lots of content
</div>
<div id="bottom">
</div>

A good way to see how a page you like is created is by using something like Web Assist's Site Import (Dreamweaver extension). This little programme imports the page, however it was created, along with the associated CSS, images, etc. You end up with the html, php etc files as if you created it yourself. You can then pull it apart to see how it was done. Use Photoshop or Fireworks to view the images.

It's a very good way to learn.
