August 1, 201016 yr Hi guys, I thought I'd get a head start on this problem at the weekend before I go to work on Monday. It’s a new job and I'd rather not ask my manager yet. Seem to be scratching my head about a poster I am creating at work, I don’t really get the dimensions. It had been a long day on Friday and I thought maybe my brain was not working as usual! But having a fresh look at it and after drafting up the dimensions in Photoshop, it still does not make any sense to me. I know I seem to be missing something here! (Have a look at the artwork spec document.) Can anyone help? 6_Sheet_Artwork_Spec.doc
August 1, 201016 yr Author Utter nonsense, I'd say. It doesn't make sense does it? I thought it was just me, I'm new to graphic design and haven’t designed a poster that large for print and thought I was really missing something. I emailed the print house on Friday while I was pulling my hair out, and the lady told me the "safe print area" was the smaller dimension…??? So why does it overlap the bleed??? I feel like sending her my mock up. If there is some other way of looking at this and I am being a bit of a twit...do let me know...'cos I really don't understand this!
August 1, 201016 yr Author There really is something messed up about that, You should have the bleed then the poster than the inner margins but this makes no sense what so ever I have just emailed the print house my mock up...I think its a typo and they added an extra digit where there shouldn't be one. (like the "L" unit should be "W" for "width" in the document) They are probably closed for the weekend so I will have a response by Monday morning. I just thought there is some print-way of looking at this that I don't seem to know about. Anyways, thanks for the help guys, you made me feel sane again!
August 1, 201016 yr Well it seems to me that the width and height are the wrong way round on the safe print area?. If they were changed round the dimensions would be 40mm less than the trim size, which is what the spec says
