June 16, 201016 yr Hi guys, Haven't been on here in a while, been very busy at work and I've been neglecting the forums a bit too much. Thought I'd get some feedback on a design I've just finished recently. Would like to get some feedback if possible http://img822.imageshack.us/img822/5297/littonlanetrainingtrain.png EDIT: Uploaded the design draft rather than the screenshot of the live site, should be ok now.
June 16, 201016 yr Cool looking site. The layout is very clean. To me the problem is about function rather than look. I agree that ya wasting too much space in the header and I certainly wouldn't have Jobs as the third menu item - just keep it in the footer. I would change 'Mission Statement' to something like 'Gym Mission' (I take it this is a gym?). Although I love the design of the ribbon, but the call to action is too far down the page. What is the difference between venues and location? One final point. Is there enough on the page for Google to rank the site for fitness training? Is 'Helping you Achieve' the H1 tag? From an SEO point of view, it's an empty statement. Sorry to be negative. As I said it does look very nice. And remember this is just my point of view - doesn't make it right! All the best, Numb
June 16, 201016 yr Author This is the hompage design, the banner image will be gone for the inside pages so content will be starting from the top. It's not a gym, they run courses for people to become fitness, health, nutrition instructors etc, so they are based all over the country. This is why I have job in the links near the start as they have quite a few vacancies available. The courses are the call to action which is why I kept the ribbon down lower. The venues are where the courses are run over the country, the location will be the administration office. In terms of SEO, the tagline in the banner will be an image although I was thinking of recommending the client to make it text and have some keywords in it. The list of the courses below would be the only other source of keywords on the homepage. Thanks for the feedback guys.
June 18, 201016 yr I'm a big fan, had I visited the site through normal means I'd have been impressed. I really like the logo smack bang in the middle, and you haven't felt the need to fill the spaces either side...nice!
June 20, 201016 yr Nice looking site but there is a lot of wasted space at the top. Maybe shrink the logo and have the menu either side of the logo. You can then have it display on every page without looking out of place.
June 20, 201016 yr The site seems reminiscent of an American style website. It seems neat but I'd prefer a working link to the site then we could make a better judgement.
June 20, 201016 yr Author Thanks for the feedback guys I'll hopefully have a working link by the end of the week if all goes to plan.
July 17, 201016 yr It's pretty nice. Don't change the position of your logo or the space on top. The <<big>> space sometimes are good (like here). The only thing that I don't like is the color of the sidebar (the background behind the "Enroll now"), it's too similar with the page's background color and it's difficult to see it.
