Say for example you created a web page with great content and the Google SERPs placed your site well under the category your content is describing.

 

Then you add some content or links after that original content, which for Google would seem unrelated (but not for visitors). Would this harm your position in those original Google SERPs?

Nowadays, Content plays an important role to get rank well. Content optimization is one of best factor of On Page optimization process.I am using the good quality content on my websites.

You can use schema,org tags to explain google what is your content and how it is related. Than adding those extra elements and links will not harm. I have just seen there is a post about it in the general SEO forum.

However I share you concerns that's why I don't have any "comments" or discussion section on my site. User comments are excellent to mess up a well written keyword-focused page.
