March 22, 201016 yr Hello everyone, I'd like to design a website for singer. But I don't know what kind of technology should I use? HTML and CSS? or CMS? Also Flash is common but I don't know Flash at the moment so I'm not gonna chose it. What do you think? which technology is the best for a singer? Thank you,
March 22, 201016 yr Well, there is no defined technology you should use for singer, actor, school or job portals etc.... Profession of your client is unimportant. Only important thing is what THEY want: do they want CMS (WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, etc), do they want static HTML/CSS site, do they want interactive Flash website? You need to have answers on all of these questions before starting doing any website. And, of course, give to client some suggestion if you have it, people like to know that you actually have your opinion and are not scared to express it.
March 23, 201016 yr Ummm....I dont think that clients know for sure what they want...probably they said "Wanna website for me, with ma pics, info about ma and tour schedule...". That is why i said 'And, of course, give to client some suggestion if you have it, people like to know that you actually have your opinion and are not scared to express it.' Web designers/developers should know better then people who are not that.
March 23, 201016 yr Would the likes of a myspace/facebook/bebo page be better for a musician who doesnt really know what they want. At least they can be friends with fans etc and promote gigs and then venture into the personal webspace area. Just a thought like. The amount of bands out there that do not have direct (social networking) or indirect (website) contact with fans is staggering imo
March 23, 201016 yr The most important part of creating a website has to be getting the information from your client. I would write a list of all the elements that they want on the website such as biog, tracks, tour dates etc. Then I would find out how often these would need to be updated. Find out whether your client would like to do this themself or for you to do it. If it is regular they are probably better updating it themselves and you would need a CMS system. If it is going to be an infrequent update then maybe the best option would be for you to create a static site and update it when needed. Once you have the elements you should create a wireframe design to show where elements would be positioned on page so your client can get an idea of how the layout is presented without you having to do a load of work. I would not opt for a full flash site as not very Search Engine Friendly and would almost definately use HTML/CSS and you can get some very cool Javascript Plugins like with JQuery that can add animation and life to a web site without having to use Flash. http://jquery.com/
March 23, 201016 yr Author Thank you guys for your posts, I like the last post that I get my answer. I heard that designing a Flash with CMS (Joomla) is possible, it mean you design a Flash website but you can make it dynamic and link it to a CMS like Joomla and every thing is changeable. But I thing design by HTML and CSS (mixed with Jquery) is the best option because you are not limited in templates. But by CMS you have to choose a template and edit it which you are limited to that template and can't make big changes. that's what I think.

With them singers can get a professional looking site but if some clients have never heard of them, you can design a site for them, no problem. Also if you want a website for singers, pm me as I got something to offer.
