January 26, 201016 yr My windows sites with Heart Internet are regularly down for up to 10 mins at a time, several times a day. Any one else have problems with them? The support team are great at getting them back up but in the last 2 days I have had to contact them 6 times. I have invested a lot of time branding their white label customer interfaces etc. so I dont want to move but I dont see what choice I have. Can any one recommend a more reliable host?
January 26, 201016 yr I have experienced the exact same problem. Their customer support is very prompt, but they're either not able or not willing to say what's causing the downtime. Time to jump ship I think
January 26, 201016 yr Author Have they given any explanation as to why they are going down? No, just along the lines of "we are aware of the issue and are working to improve reliability..." etc Like I said its periods of about 10 mins by the time they reply the sites are often up again. To be fair they reply pretty quickly so if the sites are back up again when they read my message theres not much they can say.

January 27, 201016 yr Author Only with windows. I've had next to no problems with their linux hosting. I only have 1 Linux site which has never been a problem either. I guess I have to decide between porting my sites to Linux (theres only 4 - I'm fairly new to reselling) or starting again with a new company. The thing that makes me want to stay is the amount of time I've invested in branding all the white label interfaces etc and familiarising myself with everything generally. The good support is another definite plus. Given that I detest Internet Explorer as much as the next web-dev, I really wonder why I choose MS technology in the first place but I digress........

So basically they've overloaded their Windows server or they are badly managed

They don't have a white label cms, it's built on CPanel, so you can take your files elsewhere to any cPanel host that supports customisation for their WHM installs.

January 28, 201016 yr Author Their control panel is called eXtend. I've never used cPanel although I know its kind of industry standard, but eXtend seems to do everything you could possibly need to do anyway. Has anyone any experience with web monitoring services? A quick google has thrown out: http://youmonitor.us/ http://www.montastic.com/ and I'm sure theres plenty more. They basically check your site every 5 mins and sms/email you if it goes down. I think I'll give it a go, although I know WDF is a Heart affiliate so if the outcome is bad it may not be appropriate to post the results. Then again if the outcome is bad it may not be appropriate for WDF to be pimping for Heart!
January 28, 201016 yr Author I should also mention, I sent a fairly strongly worded message via the feedback mechanism which apparently gets read by the directors. I praised the otherwise great service but pointed out that its all for nothing if the sites go down all the time. Maybe it took the directors to give the techs a bit of a talking to but my sites havent gone down (that I have noticed) since. We'll see what the monitoring reveals.

Yeh part of the reason i went with Heart was the Windows and Linux support. Then ofcourse the fact that extend to me was 100% cPanel. It's something i've used for years and when i samples Extend i thought well that's cPanel and until this thread i thought it still was. So much for lols
