January 25, 201016 yr Being self-employed/freelancer do you pay business rates? Say you're working from your bedroom, the bedroom isn't used exclusively for business, is there any exemptions? I've looked it up and it looks like I don't need to but thought I'd get the views/opinions of people with the experience. Thanks!
January 25, 201016 yr If you work from home and you use a part of your house for your business only part of the time (i.e. you have a PC with desk etc. in the corner of your living room/bedroom but the room is also used for personal use) then no you don't pay rates. If you have a dedicated room just for your business (i.e. shed in the garden, converted garage/loft etc.) then you will have to pay rates on that part of the house.
