You should be able to get it fixed...? Search for a computer/video games store.

you can get the problem fixed yourself if you know how, however i know a friend who fixes the ylod problem for £50 but can't guarantee how long it will last til it breaks down again, at the very least you'll be able to recover your data, if you want more info pm me

I had to buy a new PS3 just before Christmas ! the Blue Ray Laser Died , common fault on PS3 Faults they wanted £100.00 to return it and I would have to wait another 30 days to get it back. Then It still wouldn't have warranty so for another £150 might of as well get a new one , not like I get the time to play much :(

My ex had that problem when he got his, they said it'd be 30 days to replace, it took about 2 :) Shouldn't think it would void warranty if it was done by sony or a company on behalf of sony?

Blueray is rubish anyway. Theres about 1% difference between HD and Blueray...

If your blueray laser broke then only makes the fact stand more. Blueray sucks.

First off Blu-Ray rules supreme. Got Star Trek on Blu-ray and it looks amazing. And 2nd, Buy an X-Box not a playstation :)

XBox has the RROD problem - due to overheating I think?

We only have a Wii at home - no problems with it in nearly 2 years! Also got my PC for 3D gaming. :D

I bought my xbox 360 for £15 because it had rrod, however with the aid of a couple of torx screwdriver bits, a small tube of thermal paste and four new bolts (about £2.99 for the lot) it all works great and has done for the past 18 months. :D

So it was just an overheating problem then?

*spots possible money making scheme*

yep. the xbox uses an x-clamp underneath the processor, however once the processor heats up it causes the x-clamp to bend slightly in the middle, after a while it bends so much that it touches a metal plate underneath and shorts it out.

All you do to fix this, is remove the x-clamp and processor, then remouont the processor on four bolts.

Simples.

Took about 30mins.

Deffo simples!

Why the need for 4 new bolts though - are they required or can the old ones be reused?

I think I might buy one to fix and use for myself, I could buy a brand spanker if I wanted to but I like dismantling things and putting them back together again (and hoping they work afterwards LOL)!

the old bolts are attached to the x-clamp. the new bolts sit on the corners, raising the processor slightly and getting rid of the x-clamp completely.

You should take a look on ebay, you can buy a pallet of rrod xboxs for a few hundred quid. And seeing as how your in the West Mids as well, I could even help you fix them, (for a fee ;) ) lol

Whereabouts in the West Mids are you anyways? I'm Redditch
