January 6, 201016 yr Hi folks, I've finally got around to knocking together a business/portfolio site. Most pages are still not working and I need to work on the content area some, but let me know what you think so far Link Dead.
January 7, 201016 yr Author Whats the rubber ducky about? lol. My second name is Drake, and a drake is a male duck
January 7, 201016 yr Author oh. Ok. Don't get upset, but I would expect way more creativity from you, your work is very good, you need to bring that across in your portfolio, too, this is not something that can be done overnight. char No, I know. Thank you! I'll be treating it more as a starting point. I'm so busy with other stuff at the moment but I really need to have something up there that I can direct clients to other than a holding page.
January 7, 201016 yr I can say its to easy so far, u have to try better, i beleive u can do it... make it looks inspired through you... send us review...
January 7, 201016 yr I think it looks great, very clean and easy on the eyes. I really like the font in the logo too. The only thing I'm not keen on is the grey background behind the sidebar headings. Also, try to position your footer to stay at the bottom of each page - on the Contact Form it looks a bit odd floating quite a bit above the bottom of the browser. Overall, if I was a potential client your design really would appeal to me because of it being so clean and friendly
January 7, 201016 yr Author Thanks Brightside. I was aiming for something fairly basic and clean for the moment. Once I have all the content sorted I will stick it online and then revisit the design as and when I have time. The content area still needs some styling changes. The headings, etc are part of my css framework which I haven't yet modified for this site. I also still need to sort the footer. The green border along the top of it will probably gain some height and turn into a nice wordpress style footer with the black bit for the copyright, etc.
January 7, 201016 yr Yh I agree with Mr Brightside it's a very clean and easy to navigate design. I also agree with what you said about the styling of the content area I would try adding a bit more colour in there.. Nice work though
January 8, 201016 yr Author Thank you Lev. I think thats a difference between the jpg and the actual hex colour on the div background. I think I will probably go png in the end anyway.
January 8, 201016 yr Personally i'd have a different font in the footer? Not sure why but I think it'd just look more professional with a different font....I really like the site though. very user friendly.
January 8, 201016 yr That's a really good start and a good simple logo that will get recognized more and more. One thing i would do is increase the height of the header and make that logo more larger and prominent. Other than that, good stuff.
January 9, 201016 yr That's a really good start and a good simple logo that will get recognized more and more. One thing i would do is increase the height of the header and make that logo more larger and prominent. Other than that, good stuff. I like the simplicity, although it feels alot like themeforest.net. I wouldnt mind if it was created for a client. But as your own website. i would like to get some other impression as soon as i land on it. Maybe work on your typo a little more?
January 21, 201016 yr Author I took all your comments on board, and while I did like my previous design I think it was too simple and maybe not quite what I needed. I've been working on a (nother) new design and I just wanted to see what you guys think? http://drakedesign.co.uk/index.php
January 21, 201016 yr Justified text is a no no ( On your home page ) I'm not sure I like the background colour, maybe try black or dark grey and see how it looks ?
January 21, 201016 yr Author Justified text is a no no ( On your home page ) I was looking around for some information on this the other day. Why is justified text a no no? I'm not sure I like the background colour, maybe try black or dark grey and see how it looks ? I'm already on the case
January 21, 201016 yr I think it's to do with accessibility, some people find the different sized spacing between the words makes it harder for them to read.. Something along those lines.
January 21, 201016 yr Author Ah I see. I suppose that makes sense. It makes you wonder though why its a no no on the web but still commonplace in print. Maybe its just the difference between reading from a screen instead of paper. Background is now grey.
