Hello everyone, ive been working on a new design for my site for the past few weeks and would be interested in hearing what others have to say about it so far.

This is my first site so please understand the coding isnt very good.

EDIT: to avoid any confusion at the services page click logo design since the other links dont work just yet.

its a bit plain and stereotypical Web 2.0 id loose the gradients and words that are big and colored.

i would get rid of the graphic effect you have used on the titles and stuff, its like word-art!

 

plus i would get a different color blue for the subheadings and links.

In addition to the above I'd standardise my typography a bit. You've got a few different styles going on with different font sizes, e.g.: body copy is 16px, but unordered lists are 10px.

 

Links on pages are in a different order one one page to another, for example accepted payments is the third link in a row on the logo design page, but the second on the payment method page. Also in itself the accepted payments page is redundant. One line of text does not need a whole page.

 

Also and probably most importantly your index page is drab. There's nothing there to draw me in and want to click any of the links (assuming they are links 'cos there's no indication of that - e.g. an underline).

To me it also looks like a website design taken from all the thousands of free templates around the web. I may be completely wrong of course, but it comes across as that... Doesn't have that personal touch to me...

Taking your comments in mind ive decided to start over again, im not exactly sure what look to go for this time but since i agree with your comments i think ill keep away from the graphic effects i used in this one.

 

Also if you dont mind me asking how do you think the site looks with a rectangle look rather than the curved edges ? Im just trying to build up some further ideas for my next attempt.

I personally prefer the curved style but maybe if i finish the squared style it would stand out a little more? Right now im trying to imagine the page filled with content.

 

Maybe ill get chance to design a few versions over christmas ...

I personally like them both as much . For my latest site design HERE I chose to go for curves . Would you mind passing some of your own comments on that site for me too please?

IMHO...

 

It brings to mind one of these tacky web sites with all the sub headers and glowing text type things, get rid of them and give the web site some character with maybe images or something and it will look a lot better.
