Re-designing for work

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Been keeping quiet around this part for the last while, busy with work and everything else. I've been working on and off last week at doing up mock ups for the web design office I work in and thought I'd get some opinions off you all. We've finally got down to two drafts and now the boss can't choose between them. Personally I prefer the one with no grass but but it's not my choice which design gets approval. All criticism welcome :)

At the moment the office is undecided what kind of look to go for, the corporate or friendly eco one.

The grassy one seems a bit clip arty and cartooney.

For me i'd take a strimmer to the grassy one.

Grass!

More friendly looking!

The 'corporate' one is really nice too, so it all goes on what image you want to portray i suppose.

Good work!

I like the structure of the first one. The nav, the buttons on the slider, the typography below the logo...

I'd say go with the first one, maybe get rid of the grass, and change the clouds to that glossy mac-like background, and your boss will love it!

i dont like either of them

Just the overall look and feel to them is it?

I've another draft with a mix of both done up, it's my favourite as I did think the first grass one was a bit scrap book like.

Here's a copy of it and also a link to the current site which I should have posted,

Your existing site looks good but maybe too much information on homepage

the new designs are good aswell but i would go for something plain

Anybody else have any thoughts on new vs. old? :)

Top design of the post, but my only quibble with it is the testimonial and portolio link in the right hand column. The single border line around the image feels out of place, something wider and lighter would go better, and the background to the testimonials bubble doesn't work for me.

I'd fuse them the other way meaning keep the typo from the grassy, and use the header bg of the corporate, maybe leave the clouds faded in a little! :santa_cool:

Thanks for the comments, will definitely have to work on the bubble. Will be working on a bit of a mix of all three headers to try get the right look.

First design, definitely the one that'd catch my eye more. Try empek's suggestion, but on the whole I think it looks great as it is!

Nice work. :D
