Video Embed Comparisons Site

Featured Replies

Ta da! Here it is:

This started off as a few tests I did for myself on a
and just grew and grew. Until one day Virb announced some 'exciting new changes!' Well, you know what that means - they screwed everything up. Then... they did it again. So I moved it on to my own server, shot a new video, and keep maintaining it.

I'm about to do another update to include vReel and Veoh, plus some stuff on mobile phones. January will see a sister site using 720p HD videos, then one on commercial providers, another on mobiles, and later a 1080 HD video site.

It's turned into a fun hobby (!) from which I've learnt a lot, and am able to also plug the film I'm writing.

I've also posted a question on the WebDesigner forum
about how to insert icons for sharing on Facebook, Twitter, etc

Nice forum this! Wish I'd known about it before.

Now that was useful, I've just been looking for video hosting solutions!

What would make it even better...

1. Present the data in a table for easy comparison

2. Would be good to split comparisons into types, ie Non commercial, Commercial, and have a filter mechanism to narrow down results eg prices, storage limits etc

Glad you like it!

1. Present the data in a table for easy comparison

That makes sense. any particular data?

Fact is, I think the best ones stand out by a mile.

2. Would be good to split comparisons into types, ie Non commercial, Commercial, and have a filter mechanism to narrow down results eg prices, storage limits etc

Problem is keeping track of all that! All these sites keep making changes without telling you. Except for SmugMug, they all offer a free service, while some offer a bit extra if you pay. But you're right - I should try to make it clearer.

And I should also take a closer look at their terms - like what level of ownership do you surrender when you submit something?
