Dreamweaver templates

Featured Replies

Ok sp here's my problem, I'm doing my final project for my webdesign course which requires me to complete a website to their plan .. which means I have to use templates for my additional pages. All is fine except for when I got to make the body tag editable (I need this for my navigation) it just wont let me. It's such a simple task or so you'd think but its just not working.

Sounds like they're teaching you proprietry software, not web design ;)

Found these articles in the Dreamweaver docs -http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Dreamweaver/10.0_Using/index.html

heh, yeah its more focusing on how to use dreamweaver although it covers css well.

Thanks I'll have a look.

You need to make the section/div editable - Insert/Template Objects/Editable Region or Ctrl+Alt+v

Insert your Navigation div inside the Editable Region.

Once you save the template, it should then update all the templated pages

Ok back to having trouble, I've found what code I need to use

<!-- InstanceParam name="page type" type="text" value="services_page1" -->

it seems to work for my about page, but when I try making new pages it has no effect??

You need to link the template to the pages

Modify/Templates/Apply Template to page

Once done (in design view) it will show Template:templatename at the top rhs of your page
