October 12, 200916 yr Last night I signed a company up to my hosting service. All last night their domain (including all my other hosted sites) were DDoSed. The owner is certain it's a competitor as other competitors are being DDoSed constantly too. No one has contacted the police so I don't really have a right to complain, but you never ever see them doing anything about DDoS attacks against small business; Only multimillion pound companies. The internet is extremely important in modern life. Personally I think computer management is a basic skill someone with a job should have, along with being able to read and write. But it seems people within law are dumbfounded by it, or they just have a very small amount of people with the knowledge. They might as well be letting companies concrete metal bars in front of competitor's doors so customers couldn't get in. So this guy with his new business has now been forced to give up business.
October 12, 200916 yr Most of the Multimillion companies have good lawyers etc and people on the law side so it's more likely for them to take action. A DDoS attack will probebely take a site down for a few hours if or days but eventually it will stop, Unless it's a botnet of some sort. Smaller companies tend to pass on the DDoS attack as nothing. But for anyone who uses web hosting servers or has there own, I suggest getting a ciscus firewall, It will help prevent a DDoS attack. Good luck in the future.
October 13, 200916 yr Author The suspected company has been DDoSing this website for several weeks. DDoSing is illegal; You don't need to sue anyone. It's like the 1600's where only rich people got justice.
