September 30, 200917 yr I stupidly ordered 2 domains a .com and a .co.uk and the domain was one of those words like Duct- tape if you type it out together ductape < you see it's easy to miss out the second T. I figured this is an issue many have ran into where they have gone all the way through the domain purchasing routine and ended up paying for a web domain that you have overlooked a spelling mistake on. Anyway having spent nearly £20 on these domains and thinking to myself " why has my server not hooked upto these yet" I realised I'd spelt both the domains wrong becuase I typed it in once and it it looked fine and ordered it as a .com & .co.uk Anyway I checked the web to see if I could get a refund and most forums and sites say that once a domain name is purchased there is no going back. Still I wouldn't be defeated and added a customer support ticket on my 123-reg account asking for a replacement or refund suggesting that the domains could have ended up with the omitted letter during sign up. A couple of hours later I had confirmation that my domains would be refunded to my debit card. End of story Anyone been in a similar situation with a different domain provider? Maybe we could compile a list of domain companies that refund if you type like me.
September 30, 200917 yr That's great that you had such awesome service from them! I had to deal with 123-Reg support a while ago, and found them very friendly and easy to deal with. I know it's a bit of a contentious issue, but as they also have their support call centre in the UK, I found that easier as well. I deal with another hosting company that have outsourced their support to India, and I often find the lack of understanding annoying. The only problem I had similar to what you've described was with Fasthosts. At the risk of turning this into a Fasthosts-Bashing-Thread... I trialled their Reseller account at the beginning of the year. Everything went well, I bought 3 email addresses (they were Advanced mailboxes, not run of the mill), but then a few days later for various reasons I had to cancel my Reseller trial and give up on that account. I hadn't used the mailboxes, not even any bandwidth or disk space with them, but I asked for a refund (£30 for 3 email accounts) and they said no. Apparently, if you purchase by mistake, they refuse to give your money back. And they wonder why they have such a bad customer service rep...
September 30, 200917 yr Author That was just an example the actual domain name I wanted was thesocialignition and i'd ordered thesocialgnition very hard to see the mistake
September 30, 200917 yr ahh ok lol sorry I was just interested in knowing who would have a site on duct tape. Your right though its hard to see the mistake.
September 30, 200917 yr Author Well you mention the duct tape thing. The reason that was my example is because the first ever domain I purchased was www.ducttapeshoes.com at the time I worked in a skate shop and people would always leave their old trainers behind if they purchased a new set. I would find long periods of time with nothing to do and discovered that if you cover a shoe in duct tape (completely) and then slice the back of the tapes shoe you could peel the tape off in one go ( as you pull the tape off the duct tape shoe impression turns inside out) this would leave me with a ductape shoe suitable for the opposite foot to which I made the shoe with ( you still with me?) I would then cover the duct tape shoe with another layer of duct tape to cover sticky parts. I would then use a hole puncher to make the holes for the laces and lace them up. These shoes were not suitable for everyday tasks however for the skate world they made brilliant shoe protecters. If you put them over your skate shoes ( the identical pair to which they were made from) they would prevent damage to the shoe whilst skateboarding. You may think this is all made up but you can ask me any question about this and if your lucky the site may still be on the waybackmachine internet archive. Thanks for the chat Luke

October 1, 200917 yr I've got na off topic question... who has a website about duct tape? You haven't explored the web very much have you If you look hard enough you'll find a web site for just about any obscure subject in the universe, including gems like http://www.lydiasaoldisks.com/disks.htm
