September 25, 200916 yr Hi everyone, my name is Keith, I'm originally from London, spent some years in the RAF, emigrated to Canada in the '70s, lived here ever since. I live in a small community in northwest Ontario called Manitouwadge - lots of bears and moose also live here, lol. I'm in my fifties and I'm trying to launch my own business but I lack discipline, motivation, coordination, confidence, and just about everything else I need to succeed - imagine that! I've created a few sites and blogs but nothing to write home about. I want that to change. Designing web sites appeals to me as it's a perfect 'stay-at-home' job and I've got the time to hone my skills. I'm looking for expert advice on how I can 'shoehorn my way' into this profession without making a complete and utter fool of myself. I'm glad to be here and I intend to make the most of it. Keith
September 25, 200916 yr Hi Keith, Welcome to the forum. An ex-forces guy lacking self-discipline, shocking. lol
September 25, 200916 yr Hi Keith, Welcome to the forum. My advice would be work on that discipline - Set yourself some minimum work hours and stick to them. If you think there's nothing to do, find something to do... With a business you can always be networking and looking for new clients, or writing 'stock' code that can be used later. Anyway enjoy
September 25, 200916 yr Author Thanks Darren, I know it's shameful isn't it? I guess I'd better follow zoonder's advice and set some regular hours for myself. I've been out of the loop for so long now, it's going to be quite the challenge. ...and Thank you too zoonder, I appreciate your suggestions. I'm in need of a swift kick every now and then so I'll try to follow your advice. Keith
