Alright WDF lurkers,

 

I snooped around in a couple of threads and find that I feel I can trust y'all's opinions.

 

So here's the rundown. The client approached absolutely HATING his current site. I don't hate it, I feel it's professional yet boring...but if it was up to me, i would have had one less job...and i can't have that!

 

So here's the original: Community Care Management Services Original Site

 

and the new design: Community Care Management Services Redesign

 

Now the client was very, very specific in what they wanted. Orange, abstract, and edgy. He completely stressed keeping the teal. I am going to be completely honest and say I loved where I was going half way through the design, but by the time he was nodding yes and drooling at the template, I can't say I was comfortable with it. The font is requested large...since elderly people will be putting themselves into this kinda home? or that was their reasoning anyway.

 

also in question, the borders on the left and right of the content. I'm entirely lost as to what color would look good as the background color.

Hi KritikSS, i just quickly edited a bit your design about my thoughts. That green is basic medical color, you have to escape from it a bit, you can try another colors for texts. From my view menu doesn't need borders, white transparent will be suit there, i tried to state on the design. Do not count my font types, but count them about places and colors.

I prefer the original one.

 

The second one looks like a leaflet or like a print work. Definitely not a web page.

It looks unbalances and lacks content.

 

I would get both ideas, put it in a blender and see what you can come up with.

I like the old design is much much better.

Link colors against the background is tough to miss. Then need to be more obvious.

 

Seems like your client has it all wrong. Orange, abstract, and edgy doesn't seem like a good design strategy with this target audience. I would recommend Teal (color synonymous with health), straight-forward (we're not dealing with the most savy of user here), and plain/easy to use (trustworthiness is key here).

Finish it off to the best of your ability, get paid and sign it off. Sometimes its best just to go along with what the client wants, and not get too 'emotionally attached' to you work. If the client really likes your design, that can only be a good thing! Use him for a reference. If you don't personally like the website, then simply omit it from your portfolio.
