I updated my portfolio site. Changed the overall skin and made it more readable. It's based on a 5 year old design. Was wondering what other designers think of it. I've been considering a redesign, but don't have the time right now. Let me know what you think and any suggestions on how to make it better.
 
Lastly, if there is anything in the portfolio grid that is particularly weak and not display worthy. Thanks!

I think it's nice, clean and simple and to the point.
 
Suggestions I have:
- I can't read your submit button on your contact page, there isn't enough contrast on the gray button against the light background, nor on the white text on the gray button.
- I think the contact page is important enough to give it space on the primary nav.
- Is your copyright date out of date? If not I'd list some new projects, later than 2010.
- I think there are too many portfolio items, I'd have 10, maybe 12, 15 max, you have at least 40...
 
Other than these, it's good stuff.

I really like the design, although there are some things that can freshen it up a bit.
 
1. Reduce the load times on the work modal. In fact, I would get rid of the modal all together. Load up a separate page, or display something inline (think how google does it's images on search when you click on them).
 
2. Contact should be in the main nav. No one is going to find it in the footer.
 
3. Contact page is really boring. If nothing else make the form wider and have a more stylized button.
 
4. Have the work filter an active filter. There are a couple plugins that will do this for you. Don't force a page refresh.
 
5. Not sure why you have a Work page when most of it is already displayed on the home page. Have something more about what you can do on the home page other than a couple sentences.
 
6. A potential client isnt going to know the difference between your work and your projects. They are going to think they are the same. Also why do they get banished to the footer? If you have it in the footer, have a link to a dedicated page where it lists them out.
 
7. The about me reads like a wall o text. It is too much for the average person to go through. Make it more visually interesting.
 
8. Update the copyright.
