What experience does anyone have with results based payments for SEO/ PPC? For example structuring an agreement with a client so that they pay £X up front followed by £X per pre agreed search term which their page ranks on page 1 for within six months and £X for each term which retains its ranking for another six months? Or a similar agreement for traffic levels/ conversions.

 

I'm trying to find a middle ground between the ridiculous "top of Google guaranteed" schemes and requiring full payment up front. Mainly because in the past most of the SEO work I've done has been for previous clients who know and trust me whereas increasingly I'm doing SEO/ PPC for clients I've never worked with before.

I tend to work on a "when it gets to here..... you pay me XXX percent" kind of basis, and have found it fairly good.

 

Ill dig out the old thread that was on here a long time ago, with another member who listed the places and percentages, was a very good way.

I have recently started using a technique where clients only start paying once certain results are achieved. eg. Total cost £5000 Broken down into... # is the SERP

 

#29 5% £250

#10 10% £500

#5 20% £1000

#3 25% £1250

#1 40% £2000

 

 

Obviously you may change the total charge, depending on what happens.

Cheers Reaper, much more elegant than the way I'd been planing to do it, far more intuitive for the client as well. Will keep you in mind whenever I've got overflow work!

This way, the only thing that you may lose, is time. and the client loses nothing.

 

Although if we have to do a fair bit of onpage SEO to do, we can charge an upfront fee (as you would expect)

 

We also try to do alot of traffic driving (i.e. bring in X amount of traffic) or work on a conversion rate. So many things that we can charge on, and we tailor it all to our customers.

Do you have much trouble convincing clients that realistically a five page brochure site is not going to rank highly for a common product term because the search engines need content content and more content?

It all dpeends on what it is.

 

I can push SEO alot for a 5 page brochure, assuming it has been written properly. We would normally charge £200 to get the content rewritten by a professional.

For instance, working on a project for a client who likes to have a top ten Google ranking website for the term Website Development is going to be completely different from another client's plan for the term Affordable Professional Website Development Services.

Hi now a days, As the no of SEO companies are increasing ,every company is working on a result orient only.the payment process is on the basis of our work in making the website top positions of SERP. The clients gives some keywords and results based on that keyword will make us earn money.
