August 18, 200916 yr I've been wondering this about other people...or is it just me? When I'm sitting at my machine and wanting to start working on some page or graphic. I get started and then open up a browser just to look at other things for inspiration. Anywho back to my point...do you find yourself looking up other things on line or getting involved in looking at other peoples work or for example like right now making posts on forums and just loosing track of your work. Not in a bad way but just enough for you to loose 15 or 30mins of working time? Next thing: I have a whole host of tutorials I have on my computer and I'm working my way through them and then sometimes I get some of it and go off and start to work on it so I can keep it fresh but then it leads to me going online looking at more tutorials and more and more until I'm so bogged down with information I've almost lost the thread of what I was trying to learn in the first place...I imagine tho it might just be me? No?
August 18, 200916 yr Author I imagine tho if I just had better time management the amount of work I could get done without jumping on the PS3 for an hour or three -
August 18, 200916 yr Author Question though. What do you find yourself getting more distracted by: Browsing Distracted by learning itself. i.e looking up tutorials... Gaming. Food - I mean junk food. Other stuff like life - yea right like there is life outside your machine.
August 18, 200916 yr I think most of my distractions are semi-productive, as they're usually reading helpful articles or looking for great designers.

Browsing information on the topic I'm working on. Altho yes I agree these things are helpful but at this early stage of learning I find that it can sometimes be overload rather than helpful... Do you guys ever just find over load or infact the learning of new thigns just changing up your idea all together?
August 18, 200916 yr I have photoshop open now creating a design, came on here and found this thread about day-dreaming whilst trying to work so I am doing exactly what you said! I also always look at links that come up on my twitter like "100 jquery techniques you must know" or "50 css tricks" etc and they always distract me!

August 19, 200916 yr My problem is that I love music because I dj & produce so I find it hard when I'm working a site or even something for print that I start researching and end up looking at music forums or mp3 sites listening to new music. It's almost impossible for me not to but hopefully when I get a seperate computer soon for work it'll stop me doing this as I'll keep it off the internet all the time.
August 19, 200916 yr All the time! I find it worse working from home, as I can........... ooh! look something shiny! *runs off to investigate*...........
August 19, 200916 yr I find it worse working from home, as I can........... ooh! look something shiny! *runs off to investigate*........... Ahahaha, that pretty much sums up when I worked from home. I think having two separate computs is really helpful, because otherwise I get slightly dry of ideas, and open up a load of my bookmarked sites (I'm doing it RIGHT NOW) and then I'm not working for 20 minutes. So having two computers will realllly help.
August 19, 200916 yr All my life I have been day dreaming, even when I'm talking on Skype or Ventrilo I often have to ask them 20 minutes later "did you say something?" pointless talking to me for more then 5 minutes at a time.
August 19, 200916 yr Author I think the two computer idea is great. I myself have been looking into it but in reality I'd need to rip the wireless card out of it or the little symbol will keep letting me know there is a wireless connection available...
