What webhost can you recommend for me?

Featured Replies

My site will be a very similiar site to photoshoplady.com

The site will be run on wordpress.

I am not sure of the disk space and bandwidth needs.

I need affordable hosting that is easy to upgrade when the site starts to expand.

The primary market would be mainly the USA.

Thanks

How many visitors are you expecting? These sites can go one of two way - either lots of traffic or very little.

Im expecting alot of traffic as I want the site to be a place where all wordpress learners will turn to at some point but obviously the site will begin with few visitors.

I need the hosting to be flexible with upgrading and with not a large jump in price per upgrade.

You may want to look at a VPS then if you are expecting a large amount of traffic - You will outgrow shared hosting very quickly. The upsides of a VPS are that you get your own dedicated resources etc.

Ive sent you a PM as we can help out with either shared or vps :)

My hosting package comes with Wordpress which you can install. Version 2.72 I can give 1GB space on my Business Package with 4GB of bandwidth I have other packages with increased space and bandwidth, which are easy to upgrade to if need. www.cocoonfxmedia.co.uk

You do know the current Wordpress version is 2.8.4? Why are you offering such out of date scripts?

Hi CSNM-Carl, Why should I choose to be hosted with your company?

Hi CSNM-Carl, Why should I choose to be hosted with your company?

If you target market is the USA I'd recommend you go with a host which has servers in the USA, all our services are hosted in the UK. :)

To be honest, The best package i could see you having, is about 500mb of space, with a good amount of bandwidth, and the option to increase as needed.

Plenty of options available, but if you get a VPS, that could end up becoming too expensive, do you really fancy spending £15 a month on hosting?

Look at speaking to a freelancer, for £5/month they will likely give you the space and plenty of bandwidth, with the option to buy extra if needed.

We can do hosting for £30 a year with 500MB space so instantly thats cheaper than a freelancer :p

Also you have to take in mind - if you host with a freelancer what happens if the server goes down at 3AM? Unless they will fix there vps or whatever at 3AM your kinda stuffed :(

At least when you host with a proper hosting company you have the safety in knowing that the servers are monitored continually and if something happens you have a team behind you who will fix it at whatever hour.

Furthermore the hosting provider will eat, sleep and breath servers so are likely to have much more technical knowledge as opposed to a freelance designer / developer which can come in handy :)

But, if theyre VPS is with a good company, then it shouldnt be that much of a problem.

You also have to consider, that the bandwidth you offer for £30/year is 5gb a month, not a bad amount, and i can understand that it would work, but if you are generating thousands of visitors a day, that needs to be taken into consideration.
