Photoshop wrapper/header/footer

Featured Replies

Hi all, ive seen some really cool designs on here and i am wondering can you use photoshop to design a wrapper for your site including the header and footer? if so what are the popular types and sizes do i use within photoshop? and how do i implement it into my site? through CSS?

any help on this will be well appreciated,

Thanks,

Logan

yes you can do photoshop to make a design

1) static width

find a size that will shoe your site nicely, normally 700-1100 px then create the designs in photoshop with the dimensions

2) fluid width (changes based on users pc)

when using % of screen width, using images gets a little big harder esp when using headers etc

create the size of the header, then grab the background and create a seperate file as back2.png etc then do a css repeat

this will make sure the images stretch the full size

i prefer my sites to be static width, normally about 900px, this will show fine on most pc's and allows me enough space to place my content

You can create images/graphics in Photoshop or any another image creation software. The images can be any size you want, and you can control presentation via CSS.

How "big" to make your site depends on your content and how you want to present it. You might want a fluid width site that expand full screen, or a fixed with - 960 pixels wide is popular.
