In my experience it's the ugly sites that get offended when you offer your services. Not that it hurts to ask.

Is this considered perfectly reasonable in the web design world - going behind other designers (ok sometimes not designers) backs and trying to steal their clients?

 

Or is it just ok if you happen to think the site is rubbish?
