clickin gon a link leaves a dotted box

Featured Replies

Hi when I click on some links I see a dotted white box. Im sure this is to do with css but cant remember what I have to change to remove it.

Any ideas ?

Thanks

It's probably the outline property causing the dotted line and it does have accessibility value allowing a user that is navigating by a keyboard to see when an element is focused.

This page at CSS-Tricks has more info, including removing it. If you do choose to remove it, then they also offer advice on adding another visual clue to focus which I would advise considering.

^ absolutely!

The dotted outline appear when the link has "active" or "focus" status and it's a very important navigational aid for people, especially those using their keyboard for navigation. It's therefore recommended to leave it as it is, though you can enhance it's style with the a:active and a:focus pseudo classes.
