June 16, 200917 yr Hi Guys, I have a client who would like to have an online ordering system, but not an actual store. He wants the same functionality as a standard store, but instead of BUY NOW, he wants it to be ORDER NOW and the user basically fills out a form and the shop call them back. This is basically because it is for custom fitting on old sports cars etc... so each product is so individual, it would be pointless to have people buy online when they need 4 tyres fitted or something... Does OS Commerce/Magento etc... do something like this? Cheers tel
June 16, 200917 yr What he's asking for still falls under the umbrella of 'ecommerce', so still charge him a fair whack because it's unlikely you'll be able to find something that does this, so you'll have to make it yourself. Why not just suggest a contact form, where the invoice is then sent to the person? With something like this, there's too much room for error, particularly as the consumer is filling it in themselves. Consumers have a nasty habit of screwing stuff up.

June 16, 200917 yr Author @ Traxor - yeah he knows it will cost him the same as a store and potentially more because we can't use an off the shelf solution for him :-) I just wondered if there was a feature like this in an existing bit of software out there. @ Faevilangel - a custom contact form would be the lowest level of what we are trying to do, this basically needs to be all the functionality of a shop without the payment process involved. When the user hits Checkout then it contacts the client and they arrange a quote and then payment upon completion of work... So to an extent, yes it would be a contact form, but a bit more complicated than that
June 16, 200917 yr with Cubecart you can set up 'print order form' as your payment gateway, once customer completes checkout they recieve a printout screen and teh store recieves an order which they can then follow up. I'll be happy to help set it up if needed.
July 21, 200917 yr TopShopper will do quotations only and you can add as many information fields as you like for getting specialist information into the quotation.
