Distorted images?

Featured Replies

This is probably a newbie question, but it's always bugged me and is downright confounding in my latest project. I create graphics as bitmaps (usually), but then I inevitably have to save them as JPEGs in order to be websafe and also due to size/load time issues. But when I do this, I always get "feathering" and blurring on my images. It's not so bad for most photos, but logos that had crispy, clear lettering are now blurred and look unprofessional.

Any way to solve this problem?

Create them as jpegs to begin with.! :D No, really, any conversion of that kind would most likely require you to "clean" the picture.

Yes, save them as .gif's (adaptive 256) - if it gives you the option.

Always save images you create i.e flat colour shapes, text etc as .gif's.

Always save photographs/images with strong gradients as .jpgs - it will 1 give better quality and 2 smaller file sizes.
