May 28, 200917 yr Hi Guys, I am in the process of putting together a basic website for my final assignment and would really like some feedback on it. I have only completed 3 pages but the same layout will be used throughout the site. I wanted to see what you guys thought first (in case any changes are needed). As you can probably see from the site it is purely xhtml and css as this is all i have been learning so far. I am going to start studying photoshop next to try my hand at mock-ups and slicing etc. Anyway any constructive critisism welcome. My first live website Many Thanks Slinky
May 28, 200917 yr The navigation menu 'jumps'. Id try and sort that out. Maybe instead of the text getting bigger on hover, just change the color/s. Good work tho.
May 28, 200917 yr Nice for a first site. I like it. The navigation menu doesnt jump, the font just turns bold - I think it works very well. A couple of small points though: 1 - Try and make the top of the image level with the top of the navigation menu. 2 - I think the links in the sidebar are a bit low. Reduce the gap between them and the menu.

May 28, 200917 yr Yep for a first site is a very good effort. I would add a 10/20px margin at the top of the page so it isn't flush to the top of the browser and also add a top and bottom border too just to frame you site off. Well done and good luck with your assignment

I'm sure you can pick up nice gradients on the web for free, from sites such as http://www.dezinerfolio.com/2007/03/14/ult...s-free-download These are a variety of web 2.0 downloads available for free download. As for the site, for a first website I think it's great - however, I would make amendments as suggested such as a top margin and the distance between the menu and the links. Darren

May 28, 200917 yr You know what I think the site is great. It's a clean design and usability is top notch. The photos are of an excellent clarity and complement the site's clean design. It's obviously lacks some styling but I don't think this is important in this case. You have done a great job. One thing I would consider adding is a drop shadow to the main container to give the site that extra bit of depth - Great tutorial here: http://www.webdesignerforum.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=307 Keep learning and keep up the good work. May 30, 200917 yr Hello neighbour, I live in Southport. I could crack out the Banks/Tarleton jokes but I won't! As a first and self-admitted basic site, it's absolutely fine and a great effort. It's clean, it works. Nothing else to it. Obviously this is a starting point and from here you can work on aesthetics more, with more projects and experience. I like it. I can't remember what my first ever site was, but I can safely say it did not look as nice as that! Regards, Mike
