May 5, 200917 yr I am trying to broaden my web design knowledge. At the moment I am trying to build a data-driven site that is similar to yell.com or autotrader i.e. input information click search and the site is then updated with information from a database, would PHP and MySQL be enough or is there a simpler way (without paying someone) to do it? I have PHP and MySQL locally and using Dreamweaver to design the page layouts Thanks
May 5, 200917 yr You are going to really struggle to build something anything like Yell.com or Autotrader at a beginners level mate - these sites have teams of experienced designers and developers working on them. Maybe set your sights a bit lower and have a crack at some MySQL & Php tutorials and possibly look into building your own CMS or something
May 5, 200917 yr Author Thanks. I wasn't planning on a massive site just something simple to get used to it
May 6, 200917 yr I would advise trying some stuff out from http://www.tizag.com/ and http://www.w3schools.com/ to learn more about HTML/CSS/PHP/MySQL.
