How much do you think I should quote him? Bearing in mind he has forms and a newsletter opt in which he wants in his new site also.

 

Im quite new to the business side of things and just wondered a few things:

 

I notice a lot of sites have links to terms and conditions of the site and privacy policy etc?? - is this mandatory to websites of this nature?

Keeping in mind that it's a static website, I'd charge around £450 for that website, there's not a whole lot to do apart from changing images for seperate pages, and doing some snazzy photography. The terms, conditions and privacy policy aren't mandatory but they do help to cover yourself and your client in certain situations, such as people not paying, copyright infringements and so on and so forth, so I'd suggest that you make sure to have some in place.

You could use an email provider like YMLP.com who also provide foms to integrate into the site for data capture.

so regarding the terms etc found at the bottom of most pages, do you use a generic piece of copy for every design and just replace the company title?

 

Or do you use the companies terms and condtions and write stuff regarding the sites terms in the privacy policy? im confused!

I'll charge him $500

For the terms and conditions, I use a general template, however you will need to get several different sets, because some terms and conditions discuss prices, copyright etc and the latter doesn't really apply to this, you need one that discusses holiday. You could always use someone elses for inspiration and charge him for writing a new one, providing that it is good.
