Can anyone recommend any good books on using PHP with MySQL for beginners?

 

I am looking at enhancing a website to integrate with a database.

Yes Larry Ullman - PHP6 and MySQL 5 - i am working through it at the mo - very nice

PHP & MySQL For Dummies by Janet Valade. Excellent book, a really good learning curve. I used it years ago when I first learned.

You follow how to write a login and user system for an online pet shop.

 

You master all the skills you'll ever need.

Sadly It doesn't really touch much on security.

MySQL Cookbook published by O'Reilly.

900+ pages.

Most of the PHP MySQL books I've read have been sh!te tbh - the only one that proved to be any good so far is PHP Phrasebook by Christian Wenz. I tried the dummies one and several others but that's the best of them.

The best things in life are free: Tizag & W3School Tutorials beat all the books I bought/borrowed (for £££'s!!) hands down.

 

Also, there is a wealth of information in the PHP and MySQL manual pages.
