Quick question about SEO & image tips

Featured Replies

Hey there,

I'm teaching myself SEO as I go, so don't laugh if my question is stupid

I'm making a page for a greeting card company, there are a bunch of thumbnails & when you place your cursor on the thumbnail a larger image shows.

Now my question is: should I put image tips on those thumbnails (and on the larger images)? I don't know the title of every single card, so should I just write for instance, "Greeting card by Little Press" or something? Would that be totally utterly useless, or would it help with the SEO?

Are image tips at all useful for SEO?

Hoping to learn something here :) thanks!

Absolutely - every Image should have an ALT tag.

And what's more is that every image should also have a TITLE attribute if there is no A (link) tag around it.

Also remember the image filenames have a good part to play in SEO. Instead of image1.jpg or image2.jpg, give the picture a decent filename, with relevent keywords sperated with a "-".

Thanks

Andy

Yeah - always use a hyphen ' - ' not an underscore ' _ '.
