What is your method for content? Do you purchase it, hire a freelancer, work with free content for link sites? Do it yourself?

 

Well, the best and safest way is to write it yourself. You know, for that personal touch, for originality... to make the Web a better place. But if you cannot write, yes, hire a freelancer. I do it when I don't have enough time or I have to write on topics I don't like or I am not familiar with.

I actually prefer to go to sites that are original, and sometimes if I can tell content is similar in several sites, I don't even look at them. I have to agree that personally created content is sooo much better in that sense.

I'm far too busy dealing with the design and build to worry about writing copy as well!

 

I get my clients to write the content for their sites as I don't see it as my responsibility to write about what they do or what their company does - they are far more informed about that than I am. I advise them regarding keyword placement and the importance of H1 H2 H3 tags etc. Once they've supplied their copy I often offer suggestions on how it can be improved and they often go and adjust it.

So, in other words you work toward doctoring the content after the site has been created. Do any of you ever get jobs that require content writing in addition to site creation?

I've never had one yet...I've helped clients write their content but never had to do the entire design, build and content of a site.

Well I always write/make all of my content myself, I like to keep my stuff as original and unique as possible. Without content, how would people find your site? Why would people come back to your site? Why would people to go your site at all?

 

My thoughts on that..

I do my own site of course - I certainly wouldn't pay someone else to write my quirky nonsene, but for clients sites I get them to do the hard work.

Lol! You tricky! I cannot do this though. It's my job to help them write the content. But the unique content is indeed crucial for a website! Watch this!

Not sure I understand MSIE Page Rank to be honest and don't really use it to check the popularity of my site - I use my webstats for that as they are more accurate.

 

I find a lot of these online tools inacurate. I've run my site through a few site checkers and they all say that I have no backlinks into my website which is ridiculous as I've got tons.

 

Not sure you can rely on the information they supply, that's all I'm saying.

What are you talking about? We were just talking about content. Do you mean something like link popularity checkers? Anyway, PR is not so important. Content matters. I've just started a new tread about Google's new LSI (check it out in the google forum) and I have to tell you I am quite happy that google finally does something against web content spammers.
