Social Nertworking

Featured Replies

Hey guys I am overwhelmed with how many social networking sites there are and how powerful they can be...

I know about facebook, twitter and Digg (just reading up on this one).

What others are there? Where to stop? How many are you members of? Best one? Worst one?

It all feels a bit bonkers but I need anything that will help get my web design off the ground.

Cheers :)

Oops sorry typo in title :p

I am most active on the following:

Twitter (Great for meeting like minded ppeople and sharing links you find/talking about anyything)

Digg (Great for promoting your site, providing you do it right. Also good for wasting time looking at stuff!)

Reddit (A bit like digg but news normally hits the frontpage before digg, but I just don't liiike the structure of the site)

Stumbleupon (Barely use this one except when I am a bit bored I just check out a few sites)

There are loads of networking sites such as, MySpace, Bebo, hi5, Linkedin, etc...., I have joined most of them just for the sake of it

however i am only active on:

Facebook

Orkut

Twitter

Fotolog

Charl I quite agree but I need to promote myself and get some work... seems to work for others :)

There's only Twitter that I use regularly. It suits me as you can drift in and out of it as much or as little as you like. And it's been useful for finding aout about new events, software or getting help from social peers in the same industry. I like it.

Twitter & Digg, doyou use them to promote yourself? Do peopleactually have to join them to see what your doing or whatever?

Like this twitter business, its a 1 line thing of what your up to... so can I put say a status box on my website like a 1 line news feed?
