Merchant account -- own bank or elsewhere?

Featured Replies

Is your merchant account through the same bank you use for your personal banking or do you go elsewhere? Are there banks that specialize in business accounts or would I get comparable services anywhere?

  • 1 year later...

When i was a seller on Amzon UK i was using my personal bank account with 'Abbey' and then ofcourse things get tricky. So what i done was asked for a savers account to be added to the same account so there for when i when to withdraw i could choose which account to take the money from. This was simple for me. Now i have moved on and using just the one account and transfering money to a shareholders account to gain the best return for my money.

Hope this helps out.

You can get a merchant account from any bank, you don't have to use your current bank at all. Your best bet is to ask your current bank first to see what they can do for you and what prices they offer, then scout around all the other banks so you can compare the offerings.
