March 27, 200917 yr Hi All, i have been working on a site for a friends business for a bit now. they are happy with its progress and as such it has gone live. htpp://www.signsbydesignkendal.co.uk/ Let me know what you think. Any comments are welcome. Thanks, Ben
March 27, 200917 yr Not bad.. but I think you got your background and header in there and then looks like you though "lets just stick some content in"... Not saying its not good just saying i think you can display the content a lot better (in the box, under the header) than what you have. :-)
March 27, 200917 yr Hi I like the main page design and i like the surrounding background with the swirls. For me however the two do not go. As a whole I think it looks a little bit dated. I would suggest spacing out your text a bit more to fill the space but still allowing it "room to breathe". The same applies to your pages with multiple images.... they need spacing out a bit more i think. I hope this helps Oh and (sorry) I would add some proper navigation rather than the "breadcrumbs" (personal opinion)... i think this may be adding to it looking a bit dated.
March 27, 200917 yr Author I can see that now, it does look like its almost part of the background. Do you have any suggestions on how i can imporve this? Thanks
March 27, 200917 yr Hi Benni I like the soft dark kind of turquoise colour background you got. However, i think the logo is really unclear, you can simplify that much more making it look cleaner and easier to read. Navigating through your site i've noticed you havn't kept the same grid throughout, actually i don't think you have a grid at all! The way you've laid out the images on the 'canopies & awnings' page is bad. Almost childish like and extremely unprofessional looking. Basically keeping all the images on your site in the same proportion and aligning your text properly (not center aligned) and lined up properly, I think this would be a massive improvement!
March 27, 200917 yr Author Guezala - Thanks for your comments, i agree i need to space out the pictures somewhat. i am currently designing a new background to try and bring a little more colour to the site and therefore hopefully update it a bit.
March 27, 200917 yr I think it looks pretty good but I agree on spacing things out a little more. I might also go with a slightly larger font size to help fill space and make it easy to read on higher resolutions. The last thing I would suggest would be to use a different separator for the menu. What you have now looks more like breadcrumbs.
March 27, 200917 yr Author Pereira - cheers for the comments, The logo unfortunatly is their company logo and as such cant be changed. they are in the process of creating a new one and wont allow me input into that. The layout was taken from a previous site they had, they paid a company alot of money for it and i fully agree with you. This is the reason i posted up here so that i can hopefully update it and make it much clearer and more professional. many thanks
