March 10, 200917 yr hi guys new to all this bought a domain and hosting with 123 reg for my golf club website just a few days ago, anyway had a lot of bother with them and in the heat told them to stick it- they did and refunded all my money except £6, i assume that was for the domain, so basically where do i go from here with regards to going to a new host will i encounter any problems and how do i go about it, also any suggestions with a hosting company, many thanks guys.
March 10, 200917 yr Hi Jibee One thing you could do is open a hosting account with us, then transfer your name out of 123reg which is very easy to do for .co.uk names as you only need to change the TAG in your domain control panel. Switching host is fairly easy, but depends if you have a current live website or if your just getting started and can cope with a little downtime while name servers propogate. I assume your website is just getting started with no traffic yet?
March 10, 200917 yr Hi At least you have your domain name! My advice is to take up the immediate response from wesh.co.uk. Then it will be sorted by someone who cares.
March 10, 200917 yr What was the problem you encountered with 123-reg's hosting? They might not be amazing but they're not the worst in the world.
March 10, 200917 yr I'm slightly amazed by the amount of complaints I read about 123-Reg, I've never really had any issues with them when managing or ording domains and when I have it's been sorted fairly quickly. 123-Reg's domain management is automated and you shouldn't have any problems pointing your nameservers at another provider so you can use there services. What hosting package did you have with 123-reg? I assume one that includes a sitebuilder?
March 10, 200917 yr I cant say it surprise's us, we have had a ton of customers come from 123reg. In 1 case, 1 of our customers was trying to transfer a .eu name from them to us, he gave up after 4 weeks of getting no replies from them, we then took over and it took us 9 months to get his domain out of there as they would reply to support emails roughly every 3 weeks, with answers to things you hadnt even asked!!!

We have had the same, in some cases giving the run around just to seemingly avoid them leaving. Very canned responses. Like most domain registrars, fine for domains not for hosting.
March 11, 200917 yr Author Hi folks, sorry never replied just in from work. I had starter plus with no web builder included, i entered all the details as they gave me and my pal checked it as well and i could not get connected at all so i e-mailed them and they never responded for a couple of days when they did respond it was a repeat message about 20 times so that was that, their support section i feel leads you on a merry dance i was getting dizzy going around in circles arriving at the same point all the time. With regards to your offer i will probably take you up on that, the site is under construction at the moment so a little down time would not be a problem as it is only a club website. Once again many thanks for your replies and i love this community already, cheeeeers.

We can give you a better spec plan than theirs for £14.99 per year or £1.49 per month (99p per month with the voucher 99p-Value)
March 11, 200917 yr I'm slightly amazed by the amount of complaints I read about 123-Reg, I've never really had any issues with them when managing or ording domains and when I have it's been sorted fairly quickly. 123-Reg's domain management is automated and you shouldn't have any problems pointing your nameservers at another provider so you can use there services. Same here, i have about 7 domain names registered with 123-reg and i have never had any problems. But like you said a lot of it is automated and i have never looked at their hosting packages.
March 16, 200917 yr I was with 123-reg for a while, i found them to be a waste of money, terrible service, it would take days (or on more than one occasion a whole week) for them to answer the simplest of questions. I'm with Dreamhost now, so far they have been fantastic, quick to respond to questions, i can host multiple domains under one account, which is great for me as i want to create a portfolio of sites, the only thing they can't do is register .co.uk domains, so i bought one through 123-reg and then pointed the nameservers towards Dreamhost!
