All we know is some of the biggest contributing factors, SEO is not my speciality so hopfully somone will confirm/deny what i say. I belive some of the biggest contributors to your Google PR is: Backlinks from other sites, the better the content match the better the backlink is, and the higher PR that site has gives you more "points" also. Well written code and correct use of heading tags, not hiding keyword heavy content for search engine spiders to crawl through while the user cannot see it (ie: putting a bulk ammount of keywords and links to within your site in white on a white background hidden behind an image...). Well written and fresh content, changing on a regular basis. A well created robots.txt file? - not sure how much this would effect how google feels about you, just speculation. Like i said, not an SEO expert but that is what i can think of off the top of my head.
March 3, 200917 yr Author Here is the thing. I have created a site that has about 20 good backlinks to my site (no links going out from my site and all related to my subject). The traffic is about 35 unique visitors per day. I'm on page 2 of google and all of my code has been passed by the W3C validator. My content has been written by a marketing expert and includes keywords found from google adwords (but not overkilled) and I can't seem to get a page ranking at all. My site has only been up a 3 weeks, is this the reason why or do I still need to increase my traffic and backlinks?
March 3, 200917 yr the google tool bar that gives you the correct PR is only updated every 3 months i belive. If your using a PR calculator i can not vouch for how accurate they are or if they work at all.
March 3, 200917 yr Author Thanks for your help on this. The reason I wanted to find out is that there are a couple of directories that only add you on to their system if you have a rank of 3 or higher. Also I wanted to find out if the site I had built was crap or not. Cheers!

Also i believe sitemap.txt is also good for google and the titles on every page to be unique for the content displaying. Also, signup to http://www.google.com/analytics/ and google webmaster tools. And if you do all the changes you will see the difference on the first of every month.
