hey all.

i have begun working on www.changemyworkout.com. just for fun more then anything. hoping for a quick and smooth learning curve. anyways, i am starting with html and css, hoping to add some php and java later on. i was wondering if you all had any opinions on the layout. i have no graphics experience what so ever so i am making due with just being able to code. i am looking for a more professional looking text for the headers, perhaps some ideas for the pictures instead of having my own body as the muscle building placeholder :) thanks.

peace and love.

mike.

It's best to have a finished layout before you post and then we can work from their. As of yet it is hard to give any sort of critique without at least a rough finished layout.

At the moment it is just boxes and blocks of colour so it's hard to comment.

Anyway, it's good to see your concentrating on coding in XHTML and CSS first.

Also, have a look at some Photoshop tutorials on the net.

i am trying to finish it, i just seem to have creative block issues. i might just outsource for the graphics (

the banner and the 6 pictures), then try and go from there. any design ideas?

Just a note, I assume you want the boxes to display in two rows of three? They go all over the place if viewed on a wide-screen monitor, it might be worth testing it at other resolutions.

Every time I read your replies I feel as though Carl Pilkington is starring right through me. LOL.

in internet explorer, it's messed up. You many also want to read about "space" and how objects are rendered in a webpage across the various browsers.

sure.

about a year ago, my roommate and i started to look up different workout routines on the web, him to gain some muscle, me to help fight the never ending battle of weight loss. to our dismay, we couldn't really find anything helpful. we just wanted a user friendly site geared specifically to our goal.

the overall goal of the site is to provide somebody with nutrition information, related articles, and to have a specific routine to adhere to. the "change" aspect comes once a month when we have a "featured workout", which will change monthly. muscle confusion is one of the quicker ways to reach your goal, which changing your workout regularly will do. the blog will hopefully be a chance to catalog my weight loss and his muscle gain, an inside look i guess. also the forums, which are a long time away, will serve the same purpose as these, for help and advice.

this is where im hoping to take the site, id like to do the entire thing myself, but without some graphics help it may be tough. this is my first site ever so i am open to any design mockups.

thanks in advance everyone.

peace and love.

Mike,

Just jumping in the shower but leave it with me and I'll mock up a tutorial based on what you've said. :)

God! At least you could warn me about topless guys...I'm at work glad no one was behind me :']

I would do something on the colors. It's a bit too blue. Try some another colors that match make a couple layouts and see which one looks best.

hehe, I like the JohnZ's comment. I thought I went to some spam website when I first view the site.

Ok, there are some comments.

first, where is the logo of your website. Second, the layout is wired, the navigation is not inline.

Third, please put all the images for all the sections.

I think it's not much point if you put un-finished site on it, as I am sure you will make a lot of changes. Good luck B)

Hmmm your site looks unique and I dont know what to say about it, I am a beginner :) .. I also want to lean more about web design...
