Will it validate?

Featured Replies

I want to use custom xhtml attributes, for example, use something like:

<li class="navItem" tooltip="Click here for more info on the product" ttimgsrc="img/productimg.png">Info</li>

And then use the jQuery .attr() function to load in a tooltip using this information.

Can't say for sure but in my humble oppinion a w3c validator cannot possibly understand javascript/jquery.So I think it's a no

do you mean will it validate to w3c standards, if so the answer is no. As tooltip and ttimgsrc aren't real attributes, so when you validate your code those will fail it.

Depending how you do it, it will.

W3C validates the true source, not the dom source.

OK, thanks. Spose that makes sense. It would be good if you could. JQuery interprets them fine, but I do like to have w3c standards. I'll just stick to class, ID and title then.
