February 4, 200917 yr Hey, another newbie alert! Stumbled across this forum last night and as I'm just getting back into web design I thought I'd sign up straight away as it seems to be a great resource and community. I used to run a couple of websites back in the the early 2000s but gradually stopped when I started working full time at 16. A few years have passed now and I feel really excited about starting again and continuing to pursue my passion for web design! I currently run ex-Sugababes singer Siobhan Donaghy's official website www.siobhandonaghy.co.uk - however I didn't design the site, that was done by www.kleber.net - however the site was poorly implemented with EMIs proprietary CMS system and is full of errors. As you can see news isn't loading on the main page and some pages load rather oddly. Anyway, now Siobhan is no longer signed to EMI I'm able to take back control of the site (I designed the original versions before she signed to EMI) and intend to completely start from scratch on this site, working with XHTML, CSS and possibly implementing Joomla for content control, but I'm not sure about that one just yet. When I was working on sites back in 2002ish I learned HTML 4.0 and only used CSS for basic styling. Back then tables and frames still seemed the norm for layout so it's a bit of a change using CSS for full layout control, however it looks so much more flexible than using mark-up for design. Anyway, just thought I'd say hi! Hopefully I'll get some good tips, advice and critique from everyone.
