February 2, 200917 yr Hi all Got a problem with a site I've been working on Visit My Website I've built it all in divs using includes for pretty much everything as there is to be lots and lots of content thats the same on the different pages. Big thing at the moment is that I've just done Print Preview and all I get is the main background image. I know that I can put a Print style sheet up there to ammend the printing of the screens - but I have never come up against this problem before - so don't know where to start. If it was something not printing correctly I'd feel confident to fix it - but with NOTHING showing up at all I'm unsure where to start. Does anyone have any ideas?

February 2, 200917 yr Author Thanks for that - I see that you're on Firefox - could someone just check out IE for me? Maybe its just my browser. I'm looking at the site through IE7 and can only see the background image.
February 2, 200917 yr Ok it's blank in IE You have several major errors in your HTML which is likely to be the cause, mostly the <head> area of the document which is all over the place - fix these errors and IE should play ball.
February 2, 200917 yr Author Thanks very much - at least I know where to start looking. Much appreciated! Just out of interest - ios there any reason why you should not use lots of includes? Its the first time I've used them with avengence and don't really know if there are any dangers I should know about.
February 2, 200917 yr Author Visit Updated Website Hi Righto - I've created a duplicate version of all the includes and sorted out the head issue - put all the style sheet links into the main page head where they should be... but its still not showing anything on print. Is there anything else I'm missing? Is the doctype etc OK with php pages? Arghhhhh - going mad!!!!
February 2, 200917 yr Still loads of validation errors - http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%...ine&group=0 Correct the errors in order, as sorting one error usually resolves later errors You have </head><body> on the same line should be split i.e. </head> <body>
February 3, 200917 yr Author Thanks for all you help so far - but I'm still stuck and I don't know where to go now. I have created a page which I've tidied up a lot - and it has passed validation for HTML and CSS - But still nothing except the background image shows up on a print preview in IE7. I've been through the CSS (all on one file now) and added in z-index's to all the divs that I think it could be - but this hasn't helped either. I really am stuck - can anyone help?? Validated page main.css index2.php
February 3, 200917 yr Author Solution: Hi all - after 2 days of trying I've finally found the issue. I didn't realise that the z-index only works on elements which have a position: set to it in the CSS By simple trial and error of removing different elements I found this div... #container { overflow: auto; height: 100%; z-index: 2; } This was underneath all the content - and I thought this was giving me the scroll bars around the site to make sure people could see all of the content - but turns out it wasn;t. So I've removed it - and once this was taken out - voila! Theres the print! So there you go chaps - z-index only works on positioned elements!!!
