Hi, I do not know much about cms or hosting so sorry in advance for the noob question,

 

I am wondering if I set up a cms for someone at say cushycms.com to update their site, would this work with any hosting provider or will it be something that some do not support?

 

I am also looking for a cheap hosting provider in the UK which supports PHP if anyone has any ideas

As a "rough guide", as long as you ensure both the hosting and the CMS system requirements are the same, then you shouldnt have any problems.

 

So for example, if the CMS system you use says it requires minimum PHP4, MySQL4+ etc etc, then you just need to ensure your host has the same or higher.

 

All our PHP hosting is PHP5 with MySQL5, but even MySQL5 is fairly backwards compatible, so most things work just fine, if not, better, were "affordable" but not in the "cheapskate" range, and based in London.

And you also support the CMS thing i was on about lol?. The £34 offer seems pretty good do you do discount for domain names if you buy hosting?

Difficult for anybody to say as there isnt any "requirements" listed for cushycms, but looking at its homepage, i'd say, yes, it looks so basic that probably any hosting would support it.

 

Not sure what £34 deal your referring to though?

 

We dont discount anything, just as you wouldnt want us to cut back on our support or service given

It looks to me as though CrushyCMS is a hosted CMS. ie. the people that design the CMS system are the ones that host it. Therefore, you would have to use them as your provider as you wouldn't be able to install their system on an account with another host. There are plenty of non hosted options available. Check out Wordpress (99.9% of hosts support WP).

CushyCMS is remote hosted, as suggested a better option is probably Wordpress or something similar you can find more CMS scripts at www.hotscripts.com

 

You could use any provider you wanted with CushyCMS as long as they support or allow you to repoint your website.
