Web designer in need of help

 

I am about to set up a site for a customer of mine but the site requiries SQL and PHP, can anyone recommend a site where I can download SQL and PHP and also include steps on how to set up the SQL on a laptop as I am new to this side of it.

I work with php and MySQL, to work with it locally I use.

 

Wamp: http://www.wampserver.com/en/

And there is also Xamp: http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp-windows.html

 

Installing these will give you a hosting environment that will allow you to test server side scripts locally on your machine.

 

I hope that helps? I'm not sure about SQL as personally I have never used it.

Personally, I rate XAMPP, its so easy to install its unbeliveable.

 

One note, if apache stops when started (Confusing I know) and you have skype, you will need to exit skype as they use the same ports.

I use AppServ for my windows server... Its ultra-simple set up, and has plenty of downloads for different PHP/MySQL versions - it also comes iwth PHPMyAdmin.

 

However, setting it up on the server is best left to the server admin... its not easy for a windows buff to work with Linux for the first time
