I'm a photographer and I've been trying to come up with my own web design. Since my previous post on this forum, I've come up with a new design to make it look more professional and more like a photographer's site. My question is: have I made it better or worse?

Have I achieved my goal of producing a professional looking photographer's website? Or just made things worse? Your feedback would be hugely appreciated. Please note these are just test pages so don't expect all the links to work!

Prefered the original version.

 

The tones of blue made the site feel peaceful and harmonic. New site is just too plain. Looks like the first one was the makeover version...

With a few lines and some emphasis on simplicity on your new site, it would look much better, but I do like where it is going definitely. Saying that, rather than creating a new website, I feel that you should spend more time developing your current site because it's much nicer.

 

My advice is to go back to the drawing board with your current design, and improve it to make it look more uniform and strict. Then it will look professional. Don't be afraid to refer to others' websites for some inspiration.

I also would say to improve upon your current site. The redesign feels plain in comparison.

Three votes for the old design! What was I thinking?! Clearly I've gone off on a tangent!

 

Thanks guys, and in hindsight I think you're right. Maybe my current design just needs some tweaking to make it more slick and consistent. I will work on it.

I don't think either of the sites really imply it's a photography website, and you don't really let your photographies speak for themselves I think.

 

I've made a few photoblogs myself where my main focus has been to show images, and not add to many things that could distract the viewer.
