Lowering images transparency using CSS

Featured Replies

Hi Guys, is there a way of using CSS to lower an images transparency so when you hover over it, the images goes from being dull to its correct colour again?

Go easy on me I'm new to this game lol! This is probably an easy one for all you guru's out there!

Thank you in advanced.

yep...

e.g

img {opacity: 0.7}

img:hover {opacity: 1}

if it's a link...

a {opacity: 0.7}

a:hover {opacity: 1}

won't work in IE6 though.

won't work in IE6 though.

As long as you use the microsoft proprietory filter:alpha(opacity=40) as well as the standard opacity:0.4 you should be fine in IE6.

Thanks guys, appriciate that! I knew it would be something so simple.

So if I read this right;

img {opacity: 0.7
 filter:alpha(opacity=70)}

img:hover {opacity: 1
 filter:alpha(opacity=100)}

if it's a link...

a {opacity: 0.7
 filter:alpha(opacity=70)}

a:hover {opacity: 1
 filter:alpha(opacity=100)}

Should work for FF and IE?

Thanks again for that!
