November 12, 200817 yr hello everybody this is my first topic in this forum, and I am here in the willing of learning more about design, and to improve the design quality of my most popular website I have done some changes in my design, and I have managed to reduce the bounce rate I had from 55% to 45%, and I am really happy about it, but still not happy enough to sit back and do nothing about it, I won't be happy until I have less than 20% of bounce rate, and I hope you can help me out with this another thing, is that I have received critiques about my logo, saying it is not good and doesn't show anything about what the site is about the site I am talking is zycu.com, and it is in spanish and it is an entretainment site, where users can upload their humor or curious photos and videos (and more kinds of photos) and share them with everybody this is my old and actual logo: and this is my new one: (the slogan here says something like "share your pictures") I am a hard worker, but really begginer on what talks about design, so if you can help me with advices and examples of what you are saying, would be perfect to me! thanks everybody for your time
November 12, 200817 yr the hardest and most important task in web design, the logo! Miles better, I think the trend now is to use super clear characters, posibiliy with some hi tech swirls/ balls, I Just redesigned mine: Whats your opinion?
November 13, 200817 yr There is no doubt that the new versions look more 'logo' like and modern but I think you had something putting the smiling face in the original. If the site is about humour having a laughing face as part of the logo really personalises it. After all the site is about people enjoying themselves. Can you stylise the 'C' into a funny character?
November 13, 200817 yr Author you mean funny character as in giving the laughing face like this or in some other funny way?? in the C looked horrible to me, so I tried it on U again thanks again for your time
November 13, 200817 yr I like the second better than the first, good idea to dress the ! up. It also brings some additional colour to the logo.
November 14, 200817 yr Hi tcd Ipswich is spot on and may I add this. If the website is about people enjoying themselves then make the logo giggle.
November 15, 200817 yr (the slogan here says something like "share your pictures") Doesn't that mean "sharing your sillies"?! Back to the logo... Given the idea of the website I like what you're doing with the logo - I think the exclamation mark could make a fun little character that you could use in other places of the design to draw attention to things. It could be like the MS Office Paperclip only not as annoying or stupid!!!! Have you thought about changing the "comparte tus tonterias" to a subtle red just for some contrast?
November 17, 200817 yr Author hehehe, yes! it is "sillies" more than pictures here is what I got so far... not yet convinced... any critics? advices?
November 18, 200817 yr Return to a black outline on the eyes and give him funny feet and its fantastic!
November 18, 200817 yr the hardest and most important task in web design, the logo! Miles better, I think the trend now is to use super clear characters, posibiliy with some hi tech swirls/ balls, I Just redesigned mine: Whats your opinion? It looks old and outdated.. In need of a redesign me thinks. 0k, how about this? That looks pretty good.
November 18, 200817 yr I think that providing this will be used for website only - it's fine. If you are planning on using it for your company's paperwork then I would print it out on a HQ printer and ask yourself, does it look right on a letterhead? But really I think it looks fun, which I presume is the theme you are after?
November 18, 200817 yr Little change to one of rosie's suggestions, maybe this is what you're looking for? http://img127.imageshack.us/my.php?image=zycudp6.jpg (wont let me use img tag??)
November 19, 200817 yr Author wow, so many mixed opinions! I can't decide anything now... rosiesp: I liked some of those fonts, can you provide me the names so I can experiment a bit more from them? MolotovRuss: I like that effect, and seems great in that font, but I was thinking more on a orange-red theme
