Hey there... this is my first time asking for help here, so be gentle

 

I am about to start making a template for a new ecommerce site called gymgirl.co.uk

 

It is a site which specialises in gym-wear for girls/women, and I am after a color scheme for the site. Pink is an obvious choice here, but if you have any "outside-of-the-box" ideas, please feel free to share.

 

I am after something with a maximum of 2 hues, but with plenty of ( 2< n < 8 ) shades to choose from in each, so i can get some decent contrast going on.

 

Post any ideas/palettes here, I wil be most grateful!

when I think pink with a girls fitness site esp gym wear, I think of 80's hot pink leotard on the exercises things they did on morning television

 

The thing I think of colour wise after I get past the bad 80's fashion sense, are bright and active colours like yellows and oranges, I know not very useful but its outta the box thinking in terms of its not pink

 

I picked out this colour pallet from Kuler Might not be what you want, but if you haven't been to the site before it could be useful in sparking some ideas. Anyway here is the colour pallet I first thought of

 

I know pink would be the obvious choice, some colour psychology articles states that it puts high strain on the eye and makes you feel tired. Here is one article which also refers to others and shows some colour schemes you might want to use. It doesn't fit with your requirements, but might give you some inspiration, maybe.

can't say i like that scheme very much though... seems much too warm and orangey, but thats more of a personal choice really.

 

In ravi's link, i quite like the group 2 colors.

That site is sheer genius! I was using colormatch.dk until then which did a similar service for free (using javascript I think) but the colour scheme chooser has disappeared now Anyhow, I'll be using this site a lot more in the future

Not really, I think my idea of sports wear is tarnished by the 80's exercise videos my mam used to buy all the time So when I think fitness I think bright...so I'm a little out dated

i see... well i prefer the middle one out of those 3 seeing them side by side... opinions anyone? or fresh ideas?

I like your first 2 selections, not so keen on the 3rd.

My suggestion would be to use purple. Bit better on the eye then pink

 

Middle one seem to have nice and soft colours - however - the type of site you are designing needs a bit stronger colours - I think the most appropriate set here would be the third one - very girly colours with the strong attitude

Hi, I may be a bit late in on the conversation, but I really like the first colour scheme you chose. I haven't been to Kuler, but I'll check it out now. I've always used http://www.wellstyled.com/tools/colorscheme2/index-en.html in the past, but you need to have a colour in mind to start off with.
